What is Narcissism?
The word Narcissism is derived from Greek folklore of Narcissus in the late 19th century. It is one of the mental conditions which are regarded as having an excess affection and admiration for one’s physical appearance. It is called NPD meaning Narcissistic Personality Disorder and anyone who seems to be suffering from Narcissism is referred to as a Narcissist. Victims of this mental disorder usually see themselves far better than others and having an inflated sense of importance.
Who can be a Victim of Narcissistic Personality Disorder?
Anybody can be a victim as long as the character traits are seen in them. There is no age limitation, it can be found in children, adults, male and female. Narcissism in children has many causes. A study released recently contends that parents who overvalued their children, teaching them that they are entitled to special treatment and making them feel better than other children are more likely to produce children with Narcissism.
What are the Character Traits of a Narcissist?
There are various character traits attributed to the mental disorder: A Narcissist always occupies his or her mind with fantasies of accomplishment, power, beauty, and intelligence. They have a belief of being superior to others with a deep demand for excessive attention and approbation, also, an awkward sense of entitlement can be found in them. They are people who lack sympathy and consideration for others and have an inflated sense of value. People with Narcissistic Personality Disorder are described as self-centered, cocky (arrogant), manipulative, selfish, and difficult.
