One day Jesus looked around,
His voice was calm, yet strong and sound.
He said, “Take your purse, bring your bag,
The road ahead may start to drag.”
“If you don’t have a sword,” He said,
“Then sell your coat—buy one instead.”
A strange thing from the Prince of Peace,
Who always taught that fights should cease.
Before this time, He sent them out
With just their faith, and not much doubt.
No money bag, no extra shoes,
Just trust in God and share the news.
But now He knew the hour had come,
The path ahead was not all fun.
The world would hate, the night was near,
It was a time to stand, not fear.
Not swords for war or angry fights,
But to be ready, day and night.
To walk with care, to watch and pray,
And face the trials that came their way.
They showed Him two, “Lord, we have these!”
He said, “Enough,” and let them be.
He didn’t cheer or ask for more,
For love, not war, was at His core.
Later on, when swords were drawn,
He stopped the fight before the dawn.
He healed a man, He made things right,
He showed God’s power, not man’s might.
So what did Jesus mean that day?
Be strong. Be wise. Prepare. Obey.
Sometimes the cloak must go aside
So truth and courage both can ride.
The sword we need is not of steel,
But truth and faith and love that’s real.
So carry hope and stand up tall—
God walks with you through it all.
